Extraterrestrial/Alien Life On Titan, Moon Of Saturn

The Facts

In June 2010 it was announced that scientists had discovered potential evidence of life on one of Saturn's largest moons, Titan. The information was collected by NASA's Cassini spacecraft which inspected complex chemical activity on the surface of Titan. Titan is known to have a dense atmosphere and the data collected by Cassini showed that there is hydrogen flowing down through the atmosphere and disappearing at the surface, as though it is being inhaled by something.

There is also a lack of a specific chemical named acetylene on the surface of Titan and therefore scientists suspect that this chemical is being consumed by some kind of extraterrestrial life. The surface of Titan is known to be abundant with lakes, mountains and rivers although the lakes and rivers are actually lakes and rivers of methane, not water. This leads scientists into believing that life on Titan may be methane-based rather than water-based.

If so, this would be significant in confirming that other types of life-forms can also, and do, exist and that they do not necessarily have to be water-based. Organic chemicals had previously been found on the moon of Saturn, although It was noted that there could possibly be other explanations for the discovery.

In scientific terms it seems as though there is plenty of activity on Titan and it has often been described as the most Earth-like planet in our solar system. Something seems to be breathing in the atmosphere and the lack of a layer of acetylene, which would normally be produced by sunlight interacting with chemicals in the atmosphere, seems to indicate that some form of life has probably been consuming it.

The Speculation

Ironically, Phil Larson of the White House Obama Administration, recently claimed that there is no credible evidence to suggest that life exists outside of planet Earth, yet NASA had already stated a considerable time ago that they may have potentially already found it.

Although it may just currently be a hypothesis, the scientific evidence presents a very strong case for there being some kind of life on Titan, no matter what form it takes. It's true that there may be other reasons and causes for the discoveries but at the moment the extraterrestrial hypothesis is deemed to be the most likely.

It also seems odd that NASA would be on the verge of discovering extraterrestrial life within our very own solar system, yet not long afterwards unveiled a lack of funding and then announced plans to dump the ISS (international Space Station) into the sea, after spending $150,000,000,000 building it.

This is in addition to all the satellites, comets and meteors that seem to be falling to Earth lately and the recent shutdown and then restart of SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). If NASA really were on the verge of discovering extraterrestrial life on Titan, then why is it that we have been led to focus so closely on the moon and Mars?
