How Hubpages & Google Adsense Made Me A Multi-Millionaire
Up until 2005 I had been working at a conventional job, working as a Kitchen Assistant in a local restaurant. I had worked hard at this job for a total of four years, also working in the evenings for the same company, working full-time. Although it didn't make me rich the money was good and I was earning more than the average employee in the UK.
In 2005 management of the company changed hands and I was made redundant. Despite looking for similar work, the years started to fly past and I could not manage to attain any work so I began searching online for something that I could do to earn money in order to take the pressure off a little bit.
In 2007 I discovered a music industry website called Slicethepie which, at the time, was brand new and paying their users extremely high rates in return for reviewing and rating music by unsigned bands. At the time Slicethepie was a true music investment platform whereby users could purchase shares in an upcoming artist's album and then trade those shares on the world's only music industry stock exchange. During Slicethepie's first few years I managed to make a couple of thousand pound each year. Once site activity hit an all-time high the rates soon started to deteriorate and currently there is very little music to review at Slicethepie - it's now only possible to earn literally a few pennies a week.
I had also discovered a similar music investment/fundraising website called Sellaband where I invested some of my earnings from Slicethepie in order to be entitled to a financial return within the digital music industry - although I managed to make a little bit of money from two of the more successful artists at Sellaband it generally wasn't worth it. I have, however, found out since that new music websites such as AKA Music and MyMajorCompany have actually successfully managed to make a profit for their investors much more easily than both Sellaband and Slicethepie despite using more conventional methods.
I am a musician and music is pretty much my life. Once the novelty of these music industry-based websites started to wear off, as did the income I was making from them, I signed up with Hubpages and Blogger and started writing about subjects I am knowledgeable about such as the music industry, psychology & the human mind and conspiracy theories. It took a while but I soon started to develop a following. I began placing Google Adsense adverts and Amazon affiliate links on my hubs and blogs in order to generate income. Although my rates of traffic were relatively high I only seemed to be making literally a few pennies per week from Adsense and decided that earning £240 per 100,000 page views just wasn't worth it, even with my hub on Narcissistic Personality Disorder which receives several hundred visits per day. I continued writing at Hubpages regardless seeing as though I enjoyed it so much and could also use it as a promotional tool for any other work that I would attempt in the future. I carried on at Hubpages and Blogger but took no notice of my Adsense account any longer.
Then one day in 2018, ten years after I had signed up with Hubpages, out of sheer curiosity I decided I would check my Adsense account. I logged in and to my surprise my hub on Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which I have continued refining over time, had received as many as 600,000,000 clicks on the Adsense units and a total of $150,000,000 was sitting there unattended to in my account!
With excitement I immediately removed the 'hold' on my Adsense account so that they would send me the check for $150,000,000 the following month and that, my friends, is how Hubpages and Google Adsense made me a multi-millionaire!
