Natural Selection

"Life is just one big ball of consciousness experiencing itself subjectively." - Rachael Adams, Archeologist

According to evolutionary biologists and atheists such as Richard Dawkins and obviously, Charles Darwin, Darwin's theory of natural selection is an appropriate explanation for the evolution of life on our planet. So, does that necessarily mean that Darwin's theory of natural selection is also responsible for the actual existence of life itself, or is that simply just an assumption based on the evidence of evolution and not actual evidence of creation? Or does it perhaps explain both?

Rather interestingly and considering the beliefs of many religions all over the world that do believe in creation, archeological discoveries are increasingly indicating that there may have been some kind of external intervention in the evolution of man by some 'other' presence. In some religions this presence is referred to as angels or demons and in others they are referred to as extraterrestrials or inteplanetary beings. Given the lack of adequate linguistics and technological understanding thousands of years ago, could the ancients simply have misperceived advanced extraterrestrial technology? Is that why they called the advanced beings Gods? Imagine a civilization visiting Earth that had been around millions of years longer than us, they would be so technologically advanced that it's impossible for us to even begin to comprehend what they would be capable of and the technology they would have developed. Think about where we will be technologically in just 100 years time.

Although Darwin's theory of natural selection accurately indicates a possible existence of an evolutionary progression of life via a self-mutilating gene, there are also a few gaps in the theory and one very strong missing link. If the theory is accurate then it suggests that gene mutation is a natural part of the evolutionary process and therefore certain mutations of all forms of life, depending on their environment, would be abundant throughout history... but it just isn't there. Although some people have suggested that certain unusually mutated creatures that have been discovered on an occassional basis which seem to indicate some possible 'test' enhancement for future biological development in the evolution process, these incidents are few and far between and not consistent throughout the biological development of life on Earth over the ages. Even looking into archeology, palientology, history and even biology it seems that the evidence does not indicate a consistent progressive pattern in the evolution of a species via a self-mutilating gene although that gene does exist. Although evolution is certainly existent, as is the selfish gene, mutated creatures that have been discovered do not indicate any kind of dynamic mutation that would benefit their future or any kind of pattern in those mutations so if the theory is accurate then why haven't any of the remains ever been found?

Intelligent Design

According to the big bang theory there was some kind of gigantic explosion or similar huge event that happened 13.7 billiion years ago. It is believed that at that moment all of space was created. Created by who? Or what?

Given that the big bang theory is common-place scientific knowledge particularly in educational establishments, as is the theory of natural selection, both theories still leave us asking 'who or what caused them to actually happen?' Surely, it can't all just be down to a freak occurrence that was never intended to happen and if that's the case then how is it that NASA recently announced the discovery of as many as 1200 distant planets orbiting stars and 54 of them are in the goldilocks (habitable) zone meaning they are capable of harbouring life. Were they just the result of a freak accident too? Inventions such as the Hubble telescope shows just a tiny fraction of the universe yet indicates that there are hundred of billions of other galaxies out there. A German computer simulation estimated that there could be up to 500 billion galaxies out there which would indicate that there is a galaxy for every star in the Milky Way solar system. Given the evidence it would be wise to assume that life, no matter what form it takes, is abundant throughout the universe. Life itself can take many forms, some of which may be currently unknown to man. Some of the photographs are stunningly beautiful. Could all this really just be the result of a self-replicatiion and self-mutilation phenomena?

Everything on our planet has been designed or has evolved with super-efficiency. Everything on Earth has a reason and is there to do it's job. Bees produce honey, plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and flies eat waste. There is only one species on the entire planet out of all of them that doesn't do it's job on Earth and that race are the human beings; us. We are so out of place that it's unbelievable. When studying our history it almost seems as though we came from somewhere else. From the age of the dinosaurs to pets that we have at home today, how many animals or creatures or any form of life can you think of that share the human trait that we refer to as 'intelligence'? There's something different about us.

We already know of several species on our planet that have been around a lot longer than us but don't seem to possess such a sense of awareness or intellectual capacity or even communication as us although they may be flawless in other areas. The bird has the capability of flight, bats have sonar capability and owls can see in the dark but even considering this versatility between species humans are still the odd ones out. We're not as natural or as gracious as all other life on the planet. We wear clothes to hide our skin, we design and build property and technology, we turn our ideas into reality. A capability that no other animal on the planet possesses, why are we the only ones with this trait? It reminds me of a quote from Alex Collier, "if you want someone to worship, then worship the God within you."

Star systems such as Zeta Reticuli have been around 3 billion years longer than us, therefore any life that started evolving there billions of years before our existence would be billions of years ahead of us technologically. Our scientists are now successfully working on genetic engineering which is one possible explanation for our existence. If God does exist and is an entity outside of planet Earth then that makes him extraterrestrial; alien. Were we engineered by an advanced extraterrestrial intelligence that we have come to refer to as God? Or have we been deceived? As mentioned at the beginning of this hub several ancient cultures and religions refer to beings that came down from the stars and displayed seemingly magical powers including the bible.

Egyptian heiroglyphs and artifacts show indications of flight technology, gene splicing and even ancient astronauts. Many archeological discoveries, artifacts, religions, ancient scriptures and texts all seem to tie in to indicate intervention from a presence outside of Earth as do many significant landmarks all over the world. The fact is that history as we know it may need to be re-written.

(Everything on Earth has a reason and is there to do it's job)

Amazing, as this claim makes you the only person in history to know the purpose and reason for the English Sparrow. But don't take my word for it - look it up.

Interesting hub! Nothing can be discounted in this phenomenally large universe that we live in. When I think of who, what or how we were created, I come up with more questions than answers. For example if aliens helped our creation, who created them? If a higher power created us, where and when was he/she created? If we are just some random occurrence, when you think of the complexity of our brains, and bodily systems then we could simply take all the basic parts of a car, through them on the ground and quite possibly they would some how form themselves into a vehicle...

Interesting comment GoGreenTips, just think of all the different possible outcomes evolution could have had.

It is mind boggling isn't it? Have you ever watched the special that Stephen Hawkings did on possible life forms would take on other planets..very interesting!

I don't think I have but I do believe that life can take many forms that we are probably unaware of including gaseous or electromagnetic life-forms. Silicon crystals are also used in computer microchips to store data therefore technically it's a possibility that silicon-based life exists. Even a galaxy could be a form of life.

No one has found the missing link because it doesn't exist.

How can we have complete dinosaur skeletons 65 million years old but can't find one bone a million years old?

Will a duck eventually evolve into a human?

Quack, Quack!

Fascinating hub. I think with life, evolution etc. the more we find out, we soon realise how much more we have to discover. There is much that we perceive to be real is in fact illusion.

God or Super Intelligent ET's? This has to be one of the most intriguing questions and one of the most fascinating. It might well turn out that ET did seed humans here and not 'God' as in the religious view. But even super intelligent and advanced ET's had to be created at some point by something?

Fabulous hub + voted up.

His story as we know it MAY BE WRONG, that maybe the GREATEST UNDER STATEMENT, known to mankind . . . can I quote you on that.

As a matter of fact I'm going to steal it for the title to my next Hub. It is almost laughable and certainly brilliant, you are a genius, thank you, thank you, thank you!

The answer to the purpose of the English Sparrow is easy, everyone knows it's purpose. According to Darwin it will eventually evolve into a human, just like apes, ducks and all the other animals on the planet.

As a matter of fact Hollywood is making a movie of it Return of the Planet of the Sparrow, it's going to be great, Sparrow's learn to talk and take over the Planet!

AKA Winston,

You lost me on 'I think', but good try!

Oh, that's humor I get it, clever!

Actually I've read some of your hubs now and although they are insightful and amusing, I missed the point as everything you mention is obvious.

Perhaps if you take stand, go out on a limb and express some opinion instead of regurgitating the obvious, the message would become clearer.

Or maybe I just haven't read the right Hub, could you suggest a good one?
